Tips and Techniques

1.

The most efficient way to enter Castles is to position your figurine on a straight line approach to a given castle. This dramatically increases your chances to get into Castles.
2.  There is a 52.7% probability to roll a 1! That means if your figurine is 1 space away from a Castle, you have a slightly greater than 50/50 chance of getting into that Castle on your next roll.

3.  Do not use your Treasure Cards right away! Wait until the game develops, devise the right strategy and then use your Treasures to achieve your goal.

4.  Keeping Track of the Darkness Figurines – To make sure you do not confuse which Darkness figurines have been moved on a given turn, make sure to lay each figurine down on its new spot after it has been moved. After you have moved all of the figurines, place them into upright positions in their new locations.

5.  Playing with 2 People – If only 2 players are available to play, one should be the Darkness and the other the Valiant. The Valiant Player should control 3-4 of the Valiant figurines for optimum results. Each figurine still moves independently, just like in a multi-player game. To help keep track of the different Valiant figurines and their Treasures, write the color of each figurine on separate pieces of paper and place them before you. For example, as you accumulate Treasure Cards for the green Valiant Figurine, place them under the piece of paper with “green” written on it. Do the same for the other Valiant Figurines.

6.  Entering Castles isn’t always a good idea. For example, if the Valiants are in possession of The Scepter and the Castle with The Living Throne has been found, entering Castles becomes very risky for the Valiant…will the Valiant find a helpful Treasure or unleash another Darkness? You decide if the risk is worth taking.
